The UK’s only art fair dedicated to kinetic, robotic, sound, light, and time-based art is back for its third year at the cavernous Ambika P3 space near London’s Baker Street. Kinetica Art Fair 2011 includes over 30 galleries and organisations and 200 artists specialising in kinetic, electronic, and new media art.

With the fast increasing advancement and development of a scientific and technological culture, it is only natural that many contemporary artists have crossed the plateau into ‘multi-disciplinary new media’ with artworks that utilise and warp technology itself. Kinetica Art Fair, produced by Kinetica Museum, celebrates this evolution.

The theme of this year’s show is the evolution of body, brain, mind and consciousness. The fair’s feature exhibition: The Evolution of Consciousness brings together 17 artists from six countries who challenge and explore our quest to further human potential.

As well as a wide variety of objects and installations, over 25 performances, talks and events are taking place ranging from science and artistic collaboration and artists concepts of quantum theory and harmonic resonance, ideas for a free currency, and hypnotic audiovisual experiences. Kinetica Art Fair 2010 includes over 35 galleries and organisations and 150 artists specialising in kinetic, electronic, and new media art.

For those interested in experiential art, the fair promises some treasures. Expect to find exhibits such as a family of holographic light beings, sculpting and drawing robots, an orchestral milk float, and a giant vertical electronic wave.

The fair is organised by Kinetica Museum. They have teamed up with John Dunbar (Indica Gallery 1965) and Jason Reichhardt (Cybernetic Serendipity, ICA, 1968) on a feature exhibition dedicated to the pioneers and masters of kinetic art.

Also on display is original interactive installations from the 1968 exhibition of cybernetic art, Cybernetic Serendipity, first shown at the Institute of Contemporary Art.
